How a mold job runs in Salt Lake City
Our mold removal process, from first call to final record
Eight steps, the same on every job. The order matters: find the water, contain the area, remove the mold, fix the cause, then prove it is done.

Step by step
What happens, in order
Small jobs move through these steps in a day. Larger ones spend most of their time in drying.
01 The call
Tell us what you see, smell or found wet. We ask a few questions, explain what a visit involves and book a time, day or night.
02 Inspection and readings
We look, measure moisture in walls, floors and framing, and photograph what we find. The scope comes from the readings, not a guess.
03 A written scope
You get a plain description of what comes out, what gets cleaned, how it will be contained and what is causing the moisture.
04 Containment
Plastic walls, a zipper door and negative air seal the work area so the rest of the house stays clean and in use.
05 Removal and cleaning
Moldy material that cannot be cleaned comes out and is bagged inside the containment. What stays is HEPA vacuumed and cleaned.
06 Drying and the cause
Framing and subfloor are dried to normal readings, and the moisture source is fixed or clearly handed to the right trade.
07 Confirming it is done
Dry readings, a final look and, where the job calls for it, a clearance test before the containment comes down.
08 Your record
Before, during and after photos with readings and the scope, ready for a buyer, a landlord, a board or an adjuster.
Why this order
Moisture first, mold second
Salt Lake City is a dry place, so when mold grows indoors there is almost always a specific water source behind it: a leak, a bath fan venting into the attic, spring water in a basement or a crawl space. Removing the growth without finding that source is how jobs end up being done twice.
That is why readings come before the scope, and why the cause is named in writing on every job. EPA guidance says wet materials dried within 24 to 48 hours usually do not grow mold, so when we are called to fresh water, drying comes first and removal may not be needed at all.

Typical timing
Bathroom or closet: often one day.
Basement or attic: several days, mostly drying.
Whole house or after a flood: a week or more, depending on how much got wet.
